-
- C= : I don't think C= reduced prices as a matter of choice. I think it was
- more a case of having to ship and _sell_ units to keep the creditors

- big price cuts on the A600, A1200 and CD32. This were reflected in
- massive write-downs of stock value which added to C= losses, but did

-
- AT : There is now way AT/Escom are going to sell the machine at a loss.
- Escom have had massive aquisitions in the last year, the core business
- of Escom has, is, and always will be PC. FACT is they will not put
- an Amiga on the market that can compete with PC, simply because they
- can make more money on 1 PC sale v. 1 Amiga sale. Cause Amigas are
- expensive to manufacture.
-
- : No Amigan in their right mind would want to buy a machine that has been
- : off-sale for up to 2 years, has gone *up* in price by 100 quid and is somehow
- : incompatible with some "A1200" games (yes, I know about DSKRDY, don`t correct
- : me). The magic pack doesn`t soften the blow any, and the 486 is basically
- : outgunnng the Amiga in terms of [perceived] price/performance - plus we also
- : get to hear the horror stories coming from the Escom stores, one of the few
- : high stret Amiga retailers.
-
- This is not perceived price, it is fact.
-
- A1200 + Amiga Monitor + HD costs DX2-Anything MultiMedia.

- : <snip some ideas ;>
-
- I think reality is we need:
-
- An Amiga 040 @ 25 MHz + HD floppy + .5 GB HD + 2+2(4) MB RAM
-
- For sale very soon at no more than 500 ukp, pref. 400 ukp.
-
- If we don't get this, Amiga is in serious trouble.
